Guyanese, Venezuelans charged with illegal entry

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Eight persons were fined $30,000 each or an alternative of three months in jail for entering Guyana illegally. Forty – two -year old George Samaroo of Peters Hall Providence East Bank Demerara, 18 – year – old Raju Solomon of Venezuela, 31 – year – old Andrew Sukhai of Hope East Coast Demerara, 65 – year – old Valerie Grovinai of Diamond Housing Scheme East Bank Demerara, 22 – year – old Grant Pieter Oselmo of San Felix Venezuela, 49 – year – old Maharanie  Grovesnor of Number Two,  Village West Coast Berbice, Junior Roy of Anna Catherina West Coast Demerara and Jasmattie Persaud of Diamond Housing Scheme all pleaded guilty to the charge during their arraignment.

The Court heard that on September 25 at Charity, Essequibo they all entered Guyana by sea and failed to present themselves to an immigration officer. According to reports, the eight accused were stopped and questioned by ranks after which they admitted to entering Guyana illegally. [Royan Abrams]
