GPF working to make 911 service consistent – Crime Chief

Persons who have an emergency can now rest assured as Crime Chief Lyndon Alves has assured that the 911 emergency line is currently up and running.

He made this declaration at a Police presentation held on Monday.

Alves, while boasting of the service, however, made it clear that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is still working to ensure that the phone line was consistent.

“We have been trying over the years, along with the service providers, to make that system work and (it’s) working for now,” he explained.

The Crime Chief made the announcement while encouraging persons to call the number to report any criminal activities during the Christmas season.

Over the past few months especially, several persons would have vented their frustration on social media as they were unable to get the Police after or even during a break-in or other crimes.
