Representatives from Google’s Public Sector and Google for Education divisions on Monday met with Minister of Housing, Collin Croal; Minister within the Ministry of Housing, Vanessa Benn; Permanent Secretary, Bishram Kuppen; Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), Dr. Martin Pertab; and ICT Manager, Mr. Keith Fileen, at the Ministry’s Brickdam office.
The meeting was initiated by Google as part of its visit to Guyana to familiarise itself with the work of the Ministry of Housing and explore potential areas for collaboration. During its visit, the Google delegation is also engaging several other Government ministries and agencies on digital transformation, digital infrastructure, and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).
The meeting focused on the potential application of Google’s advanced AI capabilities to support workflow optimisation, improve document management processes, and enhance the Ministry’s digital transformation efforts.
Discussions also explored how Google’s AI-powered solutions could support the housing sector by modernising Government operations while maintaining a secure cyber environment.
The visiting delegation included Mauro Miyake, Territory Sales Manager for the Public Sector, and Alejandro Almazan Zimerman, Head of Google for Education for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
The Google executives were accompanied by Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Guyana, Richard Leo, along with Google Cloud and Workspace partners from REAS Group, including Feiazie Baksh, Google AI Digital Cloud Solutions Architect, and Ngozi Thomas, Digital Cloud Solutions Developer.
During the meeting, Minister Croal spoke about the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to digitise its records and said adopting technologies such as an integration layer would help improve efficiency and service delivery.
Minister Benn highlighted the Ministry’s use of several digital platforms to improve its operations and noted that the Ministry’s Single Window System is one example of the progress being made to provide more efficient public services.
