Georgetown man granted bail for assaulting wife

[www.inewsguyana.com]A man was placed on $80,000 bail for assaulting his wife when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman.

Thirty – Seven – year old Mathew Morgan of Light Street Bourda, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the offence. It is alleged that on October 14 at their home he assaulted his wife Vernalinda Morgan.

According to police prosecutor Vishnu Hunt; on the day of the incident the accused and his wife had a misunderstanding and as a result the accused pulled the woman by her hair and then slammed a door, hitting the woman to her knee.

Attorney – at – law Paul Fung – A – Fat represented the accused and while making an application for bail, told the court that his client is a supervisor at Rocky’s Bar and that he is denying the allegation brought before the court by his wife.

The Magistrate granted bail and is expected to return to court on October 21. [Royan Abrams]
