GDF rank committed to stand High Court trial for death of friend

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rank, Alistair Woolford has been committed to stand trial at the High Court on a manslaughter charge.

A prima facie case has been made out against him by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the offence which alleged that on November 21, at D’Andrade Street, Kitty, Georgetown he unlawfully killed Devon Howell by discharging a loaded firearm.

Howell was hospitalized after the incident and Woolford was charged with attempted murder. However, after Howell succumbed to the injuries, the attempted murder charge was withdrawn and the manslaughter charge was instituted.

Woolford was granted $400,000 bail during the Preliminary Inquiry (PI).
