Police in Regional Division Two seized 235.8 grams of cannabis and two motorcycles during a cordon and search exercise in Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) on Friday.
The exercise was conducted between 13:40h and 16:20h after police ranks acting on information received went to the area. According to police, during the exercise, ranks searched an area in Queenstown Village, 30 feet from a nearby shop where several persons were gathered in an open area.
A black plastic bag was found among vegetation. Police said that the bag contained several bulky transparent plastic bags, each containing leaves, seeds and stems.
The narcotics were retrieved and shown to the persons who were in proximity to the shop. However, police said all of them denied ownership of the black plastic bag. It was taken to the Anna Regina Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 235.8 grams.
During a further search, police also seized two motorcycles. One of the motorcycles had no identification marks affixed to either the front or rear, while the second had no identification mark affixed to the rear. Police said no documents were produced for either motorcycle. Both motorcycles were lodged as investigations continue.
