French Guiana teen charged with illegal entry

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A teen was fined $30,000 or an alternative of three months in jail when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with illegal entry.

Nineteen – year old Brandon Albert Miller of French Guiana pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on August 29 at Springlands Corentyne, he entered Guyana by sea and failed to present himself to an immigration officer. When the accused was given the opportunity to speak, he told the court that he came to Guyana to attend a funeral and that he had no money to return to his country. As a result, he turned himself in at the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost where he was arrested and charge.
