Forde, Jangoo & Mangru earn 1st contracts as CWI confirms 2026–27 retainers

Matthew Forde, Amir Jangoo and Mandy Mangru have earned their first West Indies international retainer contracts, and John Campbell returns to the list, as Cricket West Indies (CWI) today confirmed its contracted players for the 2026–27 season.

Fifteen men and fifteen women hold senior retainer contracts, and three men hold development contracts, all running from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. The three captains, Shai Hope (ODI and T20I), Roston Chase (Test) and Hayley Matthews, remain at the core of the contracted group.

“Every one of these contracts is tied to a job in front of us,” CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe stated while adding that “For the men, the first job is the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February, and we go there with every intention of making it through. For the women, it is the Pakistan ODIs in December, which give us the chance to own automatic qualification for the next ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Matthew, Amir and Mandy have earned their places in that work, and John has earned his way back.”

SENIOR MEN

Campbell holds an international retainer contract for the first time since 2019. His 2025–26 season brought a maiden Test century, 115 against India in Delhi. It also brought a return to the ODI side after six years, which he marked with 101 from 68 balls against India in Guwahati in September.

Forde and Jangoo receive their first international contracts. Seamer Forde took more powerplay wickets than any other West Indies bowler in both white-ball formats over the past year: ten in T20Is and six in ODIs. Wicketkeeper-batter Jangoo made 233 against Sri Lanka in Antigua in June, and his stand of 401 with Roston Chase set a new world record for the sixth wicket in Tests.

Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican enter the final year of two-year contracts.

Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste and Vitel Lawes hold development contracts. All three have already played for West Indies, and for Auguste and Lawes it is a first international contract.

“Development contracts bring players into the international set-up, where we can support them most closely and guide their progress,” Bascombe added. “They are in contention for selection now. This gives them the best environment to keep growing while they compete for places.”

SENIOR WOMEN

Mangru, a member of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, receives her first international retainer contract. Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry enter the final year of two-year contracts. The group goes into the December series against Pakistan under interim Head Coach Andre Coley.

Players not on international contracts remain eligible for selection for all West Indies teams. CWI will announce the 2026–27 CWI Men’s Academy cohort and the regional women’s contracts separately.
