[www.inewsguyana.com] – Top squash player Nicolette Fernandes failed to move past the first round of the JP Morgan Tournament of Champions after losing to Kanzy Emad El-Defrawy of Egypt at the Grand Central Terminal, USA.
El-Defrawy, ranked at 66 in the world had a fairly easy game against the world number 21; Fernandes with a 3-1 win.
Fernandes won the first set 11-6 but then lost the next three sets at 2-11, 11-13 and 1-11.
The tournament was Fernandes first of the year as the experienced player will aim to bounce back in upcoming tournaments in order to lift her ranking this year.
