A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody following the discovery of a quantity of cocaine during a police operation on Tuesday at Onderneeming Sand Pit Junction, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Police stated that ranks were conducting the exercise when they stopped a motor car that was proceeding along the Essequibo Coast Public Road and turned onto the Onderneeming access road.
Reports revealed that the teenager, who was an occupant in the vehicle, was searched, and a transparent Ziplock plastic bag containing several whitish, creamish, rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine was found in his pants pocket.
He was escorted to the Suddie Police Station, where the suspected substance was weighed in his presence and amounted to 3.4 grams before being lodged. His parents were contacted and the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA) was also informed. Investigations are ongoing.
