Two males from the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), were fined after being charged, separately, with a series of traffic offences.
Jason Conway, a 20-year-ole labourer of Richmond Housing Scheme on the Essequibo Coast, was charged with the following offences: Fail to have ID mark (Rear) contrary to Section (13) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02; and Breach of condition of General Dealers Permit, contrary to Section 19 (e) (ii) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02. Committed on Public Justice.
These offences were committed on Sunday January 18, 2026, at Riverstown Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Conway appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed on Friday, January 23.The charges were read to defendant and he pleaded guilty to both. He was fined $130,000 for Fail to have ID mark (rear) or face three (3) months imprisonment, and $15,000 for Breach of condition of General Dealers Permit or one (1) week imprisonment.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Devon France, a 26 labourer of 257 Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, was charged with the offenses of Unlicensed Driver contrary to Section 23 (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, chapter 51:02; Uncertified Motor Vehicle, contrary to section (15) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, chapter 51:02; and Uninsured motor vehicle contrary to section 3(1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, chapter 51:02 – all committed on January 16 on the Onderneeming Sand Pit Access Road.
France also appeared at Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed on Friday, January 23. The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges and was fined $40, 000 for Unlicensed Driver or three (3) weeks imprisonment; $5,000 for Uncertified Motor Vehicle or one (1) week imprisonment, and $25,000 for Uninsured motor vehicle or two (2)weeks imprisonment.
