A 26-year-old resident of Maria’s Lodge on the Essequibo Coast was killed in an accident late last night on the Johanna Cecelia Public Road.
Police, in a statement this morning, said Lionel King was walking along the Johanna Cecelia Public Road in Essequibo, “when he was struck down by a motor car that was driven away from the scene”.
King was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said its investigations led to the motor car being located at a residence at Good Hope, also on the Essequibo Coast.
A man has been arrested and is in custody assisting with the investigations.
