Two men were taken into Police custody following the discovery of a firearm and two rounds of ammunition during an operation on Friday at East La Penitence, Georgetown.
According to Police, during the operation, one of the suspects, upon noticing law enforcement, allegedly discharged a round in the direction of a Police Officer. In retaliation, the ranks returned fire. No injuries were reported.
A search was subsequently conducted on the two men, during which one of the suspects allegedly attempted to dispose of a firearm through a window.
A further search of the area led to the discovery of one .32 revolver along with two matching rounds of ammunition. Both suspects were arrested at the scene and escorted to the East La Penitence Police Station, along with the firearm and ammunition, which were lodged as investigations continue.
The men remain in custody pending further investigations.
