Drug addict pleads guilty to beating father with glass bottle

Thirty – Seven – year old Brian Singh of Sheriff Street Campbellville Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman charged with assault and abusive language.

Singh pleaded guilty to both offences which read that on July 18 at Lot 38 Sheriff Street Campbellville, he committed the offences against his father Chatterpaul Singh.

Police Prosecutor Vishnu Hunt told the Court that on the day in question the defendant, who is a drug addict, arrived home and abused his father after he was told by his mother that the food is not ready.

The Prosecutor said the accused also armed himself with a glass bottle and dealt his father several lashes about his body. The Magistrate remanded Brian Singh until August 19 for sentencing pending. [Royan Abrams]
