On the heels of her bombshell resignation from the People’s National Congress (PNC), Amanza Walton-Desir has revealed a culture of disrespect within the party, noting that despite her contributions to the political organisation over the years, she had been sidelined by the existing leadership.

At a press conference this morning, Walton-Desir revealed that her decision to exit the PNC came after her repeated exclusion from key meetings and campaign activities.

She noted that she reached this decision after much soul searching. Branding her decision as an act of principle, Walton-Desir made it clear that she was committed to making a difference.

“Something new, something greater is needed,” she said.

That something new, according to her, is a new political party she was launching called Forward Guyana.

Walton-Desir submitted her resignation letter to PNC Leader Aubrey Norton on Tuesday.

Walton-Desir joins a long list of members who have resigned from the party over the years, including in recent times.
