Alvin Parag, a 49-year-old businessman from Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, and Alberttown, Georgetown, was remanded to prison for human trafficking.
The man was arrested on September 19 and charged today.
Parag is accused of committing the offence on a 31-year-old female Cuban national, which occurred between March 29 and June 7 at Diamond.
He appeared today at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Judy Latchman where he pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge. The prosecutor objected to bail, and this was refused. As such, the accused was remanded to prison until October 6.
