Police have now taken five persons into custody as investigations continue into the murder of 23-year-old Chittesh Sukhai, called “Rohan” or “Marsho”, of Friendship Village, Corentyne.

Sukhai, a fisherman who worked on his father’s boat, was chopped several times during an incident at Friendship on Monday night.
Police had initially arrested two men, ages 27 and 23, of Friendship and Limlair villages, respectively, in connection with the incident.
Since then, investigators have arrested two additional men, a 19-year-old and a 28-year-old, both also of Friendship Village.
A 47-year-old woman has also been taken into custody as Police continue to gather evidence. She is said to be an aunt of the now dead fisherman.
Sukhai was chopped several times about his body before fleeing the scene and collapsing in a nearby yard.
He was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Police said two cutlasses suspected to have been used in the attack were recovered in the vicinity.
Sukhai’s body was subsequently taken to Ramoo’s Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
