Two men, ages 34 and 29 years, were arrested on Tuesday following the discovery of a quantity of cocaine during a police operation in Newtown, Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on reports received, police conducted a search at the home of a 34-year-old unemployed man, during which 26 pieces of whitish rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine were found in the washroom area. A further search was conducted, during which a quantity of cash suspected to be proceeds from the sale of cocaine was also found.
The 34-year-old man, along with a 29-year-old man from the same address, was arrested and taken to the Cove and John Police Station. The cocaine was weighed in the presence of the suspects and amounted to 10 grams. The men remain in custody pending charges.
