‘City Vybez’ nightclub owner remanded on drug trafficking charge

Poplar nightclub owner, Clyde Barrett, 40, was earlier today (Friday) remanded to prison when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts slapped with a drug trafficking charge.

Barrett, the owner of ‘City Vybez’ nightclub located in Albouystown, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan

The charge alleged that on July 17, at his nightclub, he had 19.188 kilograms of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor, Neville Jeffers told the court that on the day in question, ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch found the drugs inside a cupboard in the kitchen and that Barrett is the only person with the keys to the cupboard

The businessman was remanded to prison until August 8, 2018.
