Two children were on Tuesday evening medevaced from the New Amsterdam Hospital to the Georgetown Public Hospital amid protests which have blocked off roads from the county to the capital city.

The Regional Democratic Council of Region Six (East Berbice Corentyne), in a Facebook Post, explained that the medical evacuation occurred at around 19:00hrs.

The RDC said this is the first time that the airstrip located at the back of the Rose Hall Estate has been used by the army and the second time it has been used during the night.

The runway had to be lit with vehicle lights during the evacuation.

It is unclear the condition of the patients.
