A Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, woman lost her life on Saturday, after she was stuck by a car on the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road, ECD.
Dead is Shanti Singh, 30, of 75 Better Hope, who was reportedly hit by a car while crossing the road. According to a Police release, the fatal accident occurred at about 19:20h.
Police investigations have so far revealed that car PRR 530 was travelling along the northern side of Vryheid’s Lust Public Road when Singh, who was on the said side, attempted to run across the road but ended in the path of the car which collided with her.
The woman received extensive injuries about her body and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
The driver is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
