Bandit killed in Mandela Avenue attempted robbery identified as 24-Y-O Norton Street resident – Police

𝑼𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆: 𝑫𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑰𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒅, 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒎 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒂 𝑨𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒚

Relative to the alleged Attempt to Commit a Felony, to wit Robbery Under Arms and fatal shooting which occurred on Wednesday June 10, 2026 about 20:40hrs at a supermarket located on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, Police wish to provide the following update.

The deceased has been identified as Nia Emmanuel, 24, unemployed, of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

The .38 revolver, along with three live rounds, one spent shell recovered from the revolver and three 9mm spent shells found at the scene, were lodged pending further examination.

The body was escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Further checks revealed that the deceased was wanted in connection with an alleged discharging of a loaded firearm with intent matter, which occurred on November 3, 2025.

Efforts are being made to locate the other suspects as investigations continue.
