Armed security officer robs Fantasy Game Lounge of $13.1M

Police are investigating the alleged Robbery Under Arms of G$13.1 million on Sunday at the Fantasy Game Lounge, located at Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara.

The robbery was reportedly carried out by an armed security guard, age 24, who is attached to Castle Security and was on duty at Fantasy Game Lounge. The suspect was armed with the security service 9mm pistol and 17 rounds.

21-year-old Raywat Sankar, a supervisor who was on duty at Fantasy Lounge, .

Preliminary investigation revealed that on the date and time mentioned, the 21-year-old supervisor at Fantasy Game Lounge, Raywat Sankar, exited the cashier area to assist the 27-year-old female floor supervisor in cleaning the gaming area since no customer was there at the time.

The suspect, who was armed with a 9mm pistol, approached both Sankar and the floor supervisor, took out the firearm, pointed it in their direction, and then discharged a round in the air, demanding that Sankar open the electronic door to the cashier area.

Sankar complied and the suspect then ordered him and the female supervisor into the cashier’s room and further instructed Sankar to open the vault and place all the cash into a garbage basket. The 24-year-old suspect then walked out of the building with the cash.

CCTV cameras at the Giftland mall captured the suspect walking out of the Giftland access road, then turning west on the Railway Embankment, and stopping a motorcar (PZZ 5690), which drove away in a western direction.

Detectives who processed the scene recovered one 9mm spent shell.

Checks were made to locate the suspect but without success. His house was searched but no cash was found. Efforts are also being made to locate the car involved. Further investigations are ongoing.
