6 homeless as fire destroys house at Alness

Six persons are now homeless following a fire that destroyed their home at Alness Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

The Guyana Fire Station responded to the incident at around 15:57hrs on Tuesday.

Upon arrival at the scene the two-story wooden and concrete building was completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters swiftly went into operations to extinguish the fire but unfortunately the house and the contents were completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but investigations are ongoing.
