3 warded after Buck Hall boat collision

Three persons are now patients at the Suddie Hospital following a two-boat collision in the vicinity of Buck Hall in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) on Tuesday evening. One of the men, known as ‘Tyrone’ sustained a broken arm while the two others received severe injuries about their bodies.
According to information received, one of the boats belong to the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) while the other is owned and operated by “Ducky”. Reports are that ,, the GEA boat was powered by a 200hp outboard engine and the other by a 75HP.
At the time of the accident, the area was dark and based on reports gathered, both captains may have been inexperienced and more so, unlicensed. The passenger’s boat was damaged beyond repairs while the other received minor damages.
One observer has indicated that there are a lot of unlicensed captains, who operate the Supenaam to Buck Hall route and despite them raising the issue with the Maritime Administration, the situation remains the same.
The Police have since launched an investigation into the boat collision.
