A 22-year-old man was last night killed in a hit and run accident on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon Supenaam).
He has been identified as Nishan Prashad of Somerset and Berks, Essequibo Coast.
The incident occurred at around 19:00hrs on the Somerset and Berks Public Road.
Reports are that the driver of the motorcar involved in the accident fled the scene.
However he was later apprehended by police.
Prashad was rushed in an unconscious state to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital in Charity.
He, however, had to be transferred to the Suddie Public Hospital.
He died on his way there.
