Police in Regional Division # 3 are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis which was found on Thursday July 9, 2026 about 11:50hrs, during an operation conducted at Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
During the operation, ranks went to a residence in the area, where they contacted a 29-year-old male labourer and a 31-year-old unemployed woman. A search was conducted on the premises, during which several plastic bags and containers with quantities of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found among clothing in a bedroom.
Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
The suspected cannabis and both suspects were escorted to the Leonora Police Station, where the suspected narcotics were weighed in their presence and amounted to 461.6 grams before being lodged.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
