1 dead, 4 injured as car slams into cows at Philadelphia, EBE

Five (5) students of the Guyana Islamic Institute of Zeeburg were, in the wee hours of Saturday morning, involved in a tragic vehicular accident that claimed the lives of the driver and three (3) cows reportedly involved in the smash up.

Dead is Reiaz Khan, 22, of Vergenoegen East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

Of the remaining four, one is critical while the others are listed as stable.

Inews was informed that Khan and his four male colleagues were headed to the Parika stelling, around 2:30am to board a ferry headed to Essequibo for a religious function, when their vehicle collided with 3 cows in the vicinity of Philadelphia, EBE.

Khan was reportedly rushed to the Leonora cottage hospital were he was pronounced dead on arrival. The four others were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for treatment.

However, this publication was informed by relatives of the injured men that, due to the slow pace at which they were being attended to at GPHC, they were all transferred to Woodlands Hospital for treatment.
