Two Dominican Republic nationals fined for overstaying time in Guyana

Two female nationals of the Dominican Republic were today (Monday) fined by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts for failing to comply with the conditions by which they were allowed to stay in Guyana.

finedJuanna Matero, 30, accepted the charge which stated that she failed to comply with the conditions by which she was allowed to stay in Guyana by staying beyond the time permitted.

Anna Matero, 20, also accepted the charge which stated that she failed to comply with the conditions by which she was allowed to stay in Guyana by staying beyond the time permitted.

The Court heard that both women had arrived in Guyana as tourists at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) and were granted one month’s stay.

They were sentenced to a fine of $15,000 each with an alternative of four weeks in prison.
