The Guyana Police Force (GPF), led by Traffic Chief Assistant Commissioner Mahendra Singh, on Friday last met with representatives of the Guyana Shipping Association (GSA) to discuss strategies aimed at improving road safety across the country, particularly in relation to container transport.

According to a statement from Radio Eve Leary, a communication arm of the GPF, the meeting focused on strengthening adherence to established safety protocols for container trucks and haulers operating from wharves and warehouses throughout the national road network.

Chairman of the Association, Dr. Komal Singh, along with other members, reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Police.

The Association pledged to support the facilitation of training and refresher programmes for drivers, as well as to engage additional stakeholders in collaborative efforts to promote safer road use nationwide.

Dr. Singh also commended the Traffic Chief and his department for their commendable work, noting the challenges posed by limited resources amid significant infrastructural changes within the road network.
