Police in Regional Division #6 are investigating the alleged Robbery Under Arms committed on 43-year-old Richard Dhup and 38-year-old Willeina Dhup, which occurred on Tuesday (August 9, 2025) at about 20:20hrs at the couple’s home at King Street, Dukestown, Corriverton, Berbice.

The robbery was reportedly carried out by three masked men, who were armed with a handgun and sharp pointed objects.

During the robbery, 38-year-old Willeina Dhup was stabbed in her back by one of the perpetrators, before they escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash, gold jewelry and electronic devices, totalling an estimated G$2,700,000.

Preliminary investigations revealed that about 20:00hrs on the said date, the victims were in their yard when the masked suspects entered and confronted them. One of the suspects who was allegedly armed with a firearm, pointed it at 43-year-old Richard Dhup and his family, and demanded that they go into the house, and they complied.

While in the house, the victims were ordered to lie on the kitchen floor. The armed suspect then pointed the firearm to Richard Dhup’s head and demanded money. During the ordeal, one of the men who was armed with a sharp pointed object stabbed Willeina Dhup in her back, causing her to receive injuries.

The suspects then ransacked the entire house, stole the aforementioned items, and subsequently escaped.

Police were subsequently informed and visited the scene at about 20:30hrs. Willeina Dhup was escorted to the No. 75 Hospital, where she received treatment.

Acting on intelligence, detectives led by an Assistant Superintendent, earlier today (Wednesday, August 10, 2025) at about 06:00hrs, swiftly arrested two of the suspects involved the robbery.

The two suspects, 31-year-old Kevin Padmore called “Bulla” of Dukestown, Corriverton, Berbice, and 34-year-old Cordell Small called “Mad Dawg” of No. 77 Housing Scheme, Corriverton, Berbice, have since been placed in custody at the Springlands Police Station.

Both Padmore and Small, when interviewed by detectives at the station, admitted to planning and executing the robbery with the third suspect by the name of ‘Moses’. They further claimed that no firearm was used during the commission of the crime, but rather a cutlass and a knife.

Efforts are being made to locate and arrest the third suspect.

The suspects remain in custody pending further investigation(s).
