Search and Rescue operation launched as ASL plane goes missing

A search and rescue operation has been launched after contact was this morning lost with a plane registered to Air Services Limited (ASL).

Just the pilot, a Nicaraguan national with 20 years of flight experience, was on board. The pilot has been employed with ASL for some ten years, an official told this publication.

Contact was last made with the aircraft in the vicinity of Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).

The Cessna single engine aircraft, bearing registration number 8R-YAC, was transporting cargo from Mahdia to Imbaimadai in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), when contact was lost.
