Pomeroon man crushed to death by falling tree limb

The Guyana Police Force is investigating a fatal incident that occurred about 10:30hrs on Thursday November 6, 2025, at Arawak Backdam, Cuyuni River which resulted in the death of Methuselah Charles, a 50-year-old gold miner of Friendship Canal, Lower Pomeroon River.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and a coworker were cutting wood to do some construction when a tree limb reportedly fell, striking him. The coworker who was some distance away later discovered him lying motionless.

Charles was transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. His body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are continuing.
