Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Tuesday December 30, 2025 about 01:30hrs on the western carriageway of Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara. The accident involved motor car PAM 8305 driven by a 33-year-old male of North Sophia, Greater Georgetown and pedestrian Leslyn Cupidore, 38 of Providence, EBD (deceased).
Enquiries revealed that the motor car was proceeding north along the western drive lane allegedly at a fast rate of speed when the pedestrian was walking across the roadway from east to west and a collision occurred. As a result of the impact the pedestrian fell onto the roadway where she received injuries to her head and about her body.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor on duty from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation who responded along with EMTs. The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver which showed readings of .04 and .08 micrograms which are below the prescribed limit of 35 micrograms.
CCTV cameras were observed and will be processed. The driver remains in custody as investigations continue.
