Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Thursday April 2, 2026 about 05:30hrs, on Union Public Road, West Coast Demerara, involving motor car PAC 9853, driven by a 23-year-old male of Moruca, Essequibo River, minibus BWW 4493, driven by a 39-year-old male of Harlem, West Coast Demerara and motor car PAE 4787, driven by a 23-year-old male of Providence, East Bank Demerara, which resulted in the deaths of Michel Daniels, a 21-year-old male of Prospect, East Bank Demerara, and Miguel Daniels, a 23-year-old male of the same address, who were occupants of motor car PAC 9853.
Initial enquiries revealed that motor car PAC 9853 was proceeding east along the northern side of the said road at an alleged fast rate of speed when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, ended up on the southern side of the road and collided head-on with minibus BWW 4493, which was proceeding west along the southern side of the said road. Motor car PAE 4787 was proceeding behind minibus BWW 4493 and after the collision between the motor car and the minibus, its driver reportedly swerved, collided with the left rear of the minibus, and veered to the corner of the road.
As a result of the collision, the driver and occupants of motor car PAC 9853, along with the driver of minibus BWW 4493, one passenger of the minibus and the driver of motor car PAE 4787, received injuries about their bodies and were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital in conscious and unconscious conditions, respectively. Michel Daniels and Miguel Daniels were pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The bodies of the deceased are presently at Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, where they await post-mortem examinations.
CCTV footage was seen and obtained.
Investigations are ongoing.
