To ensure Sheriff Street remains safe and accessible during peak hours, the Ministry of Public Works is implementing a strict daytime clearance policy for vendors.
In a notice published today, the ministry stated that all trucks, caravans, and stalls must be removed from the roadway between 06:00hrs and 18:00hrs.
Vending will be permitted outside of those hours.
Sheriff Street has become a hub for street food in the city, with stalls lining much of the thoroughfare, particularly in the evenings, offering a variety of cuisines including burgers, gyros, hot dogs, and other quick meals.
The ministry acknowledged the important role these vendors play in the local economy and is urging full cooperation with the new policy.
However, it warned that any encumbrances found on the roadway during the restricted daytime hours will be removed.
