Mobile Money Guyana (MMG) will take its system offline this weekend to complete its mobile app upgrade which is designed to deliver stronger security, new features, and a simpler experience for all users.
According to MMG, all services will be temporarily unavailable from 11:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, until 6:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10. During this time, customers will be unable to perform transactions. The company is encouraging users to complete any urgent transactions ahead of Friday night to avoid interruption.
“This upgrade represents a new chapter for MMG,” said Mark Singh, Chief Executive Officer of MMG. “We’ve built a stronger, smarter, and safer platform that gives our users more control and confidence when managing their money. The brief downtime is an important step to ensure everything transitions smoothly.”
The new MMG app introduces several high-demand improvements including password resets, account unlocking, wallet loading via credit and debit card, and the ability for customers to manage their own profiles. It also offers enhanced data encryption, self-registration with ID verification, and an onboarding tutorial for new users.
The upgrade also includes enhanced privacy features, such as the option to hide wallet balances, and more responsive customer support tools, including an in-app Help Centre with FAQs.
“Our goal is to make digital payments feel effortless and familiar,” Singh added. “Whether you’re topping up your phone, paying a bill, or running a small business, the new MMG app makes it easier, faster, and more secure.”
MMG says the upgrade is part of its ongoing commitment to improving digital inclusion and financial accessibility for individuals and businesses in Guyana.
