The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD), in collaboration with the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), recently conducted a Boat Captain training session for residents along the Mahaica River.

Some 30 persons benefited from the session, which was facilitated by Captain Alex Hinds, Inspector of Shipping.

Oral examinations were administered to participants following the training.

Additionally, several individuals took the opportunity to have their vessels inspected, a process carried out by Captain Jerome Benn, Inspector of Shipping.
