[www.inewsguyana.com] – Under the theme “Transformation: Partnering for a Better Guyana” GuyExpo 2014 will be staged from October 2-5 at the Sophia Exhibition Site.
Several improvements are underway including the addition of a ‘Guyana Supermarket’, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, which will feature local products under the theme- ‘Buy local, Eat Local, Live Local.’
According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, other highlights of this year’s event include Helicopter Rides provided by ASL, enticing nightly gate prizes compliments of American Store and Bermudez.
As always, patrons are being encouraged to purchase their tickets at the designated ticket locations; there is also a special incentive offered for groups of 15 persons entering the compound on Saturday and Sunday, between 14:00h and 16:00h. The groups will be allowed free parking between the designated times.
Spectators can also look forward to wholesome entertainment; Friday will the staging of a local, cultural show, Saturday Night entertainment will be sponsored by Banks DIH and Sunday night by Ansa McAl.
To date, 90 per cent of the booths at the Exhibition site are already booked, which is evident of the tremendous interest the event is generating.
This year, a big focus remains on attracting overseas buyers, as the organizers are encouraging business to look beyond being only transactional. Another main addition to this year’s event is, for the first time the GuyExpo Committee is partnering with local transportation providers to set up a transportation service that will facilitate easier access to and from GuyExpo, every day, for those residents living in outlying areas; these areas are Berbice (Rose Hall, Bath Settlement,and New Amsterdam) West Demerara (Parika, Tuschen, Vreed-en-hoop, Belle West) and Mahaica.
