Another death has been reported along the East Coast Demerara as a father hacked his son to death during the wee hours of this morning, at their Third Street, Annandale, East Coast Demerara home.
Dead is 24-year-old Mahesh Chand, a truck driver.
According to reports reaching INews, Chand’s father Amarnauth Chand demanded that his wife give him $200 to purchase marijuana (ganja). However, when she refused, the suspect began to physically abuse her.
Their son, Mahesh, then intervened to protect his mother, resulting in Amarnauth who had armed himself with a cutlass, dealing several chops about his son’s body.
The young man was pronounced dead by medical officials, while his father was apprehended by the police.
The suspect is expected to be charged shortly. (Ramona Luthi)
This is such a SAD story….Guyana is full with too much drug addicts and rum drinker….and here we have our minister of security thinking to legalise marijuana….First get the people under control before making stupid moves….Government need to do way more to be more pro active in dealing with addicts….
