Police on Saturday night arrested Rodney Raghubansee, a 52-year-old Timber Dealer from Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, after he was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
At 22:45hrs on Saturday, Police ranks on motorcycle patrol received information that a man was behaving disorderly on Sandy Babb Street, Kitty. The ranks proceeded to Sandy Babb Street and found Raghubansee seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle bearing registration number PAD 8402.
Police say the suspect was acting suspicious and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
“As such, he was invited out of the vehicle and with his permission, the Police conducted a search on his person and found a Taurus (.38) revolver without ammunition, in the waist of his pants,” the police said.
Police asked the suspect if he was the holder of a Firearm License, and he said ‘no’.
The suspect was told of the offence committed, arrested, cautioned and escorted to the Kitty Police Station, where the firearm was marked, sealed and lodged.
The suspect was placed into custody as the investigation continues.
