Police are investigating an alleged murder which occurred on Sunday, December 21, 2025 about 02:00hrs at Aranguy Landing, Cuyuni River which claimed the life of 42-year-old Michael John Benn called “Mikey”, a gold miner of Charity, Essequibo Coast.
Investigations revealed that the deceased was at a liquor shop in the area when he became involved in an altercation with two males, during which he sustained stab injuries to his chest.
One suspect is presently in police custody assisting with investigations while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspect.
The body is presently stored at the Aranka Police Station awaiting transportation to the Bartica Regional Hospital where a post-mortem examination is to be conducted.
Investigations are continuing.
