Police ranks, led by a Gazetted Officer, conducted an eradication exercise at Wel te Vreeden, Canje Creek, Berbice between 04:00hrs and 12:30hrs on Wednesday January 14, 2026.
During the exercise, a plot of land measuring approximately one acre was located, on which approximately nine hundred and fifty (950) cannabis plants were discovered. The plants ranged between two (2) and five (5) feet in height. A makeshift camp was also found at the location.
The cannabis plants and the makeshift camp were destroyed by fire. No arrests were made and the operation was conducted without incident.
The estimated value of the cannabis plants destroyed is nine hundred and sixty-five thousand five hundred and eighty dollars ($965,580) Guyana currency.
Investigations continue.
