Police in Regional Division 4 ‘B’ are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms which occurred on Tuesday March 24, 2026 about 01:40 hrs, at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, committed on a 43-year-old businessman and a 27-year-old female administrative worker of the said address.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were asleep in their apartment when they were awakened by a loud knocking sound and subsequently observed four masked men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, inside their bedroom.

The suspects allegedly tied the victims’ hands behind their backs using zip ties and demanded cash and valuables. During the incident, the businessman was reportedly struck to his head with the handgun and received injuries. The suspects then ransacked the apartment and escaped with a safe containing cash in United States currency, along with four cellular phones, including iPhone and Samsung devices.

The victims subsequently managed to free themselves and made a report to the Police. The injured victim was escorted to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor, treated and discharged in a stable condition.

CCTV cameras at the residence were reviewed and form part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigations are ongoing.
