A security officer from Brooklyn, New York, who was earlier this year busted with a quantity of marijuana at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), has pleaded guilty to the offence of trafficking narcotics.
Bradley Hibbert on Tuesday appeared before Magistrate Tomika Clarke at the Friendship Magistrate’s Court where he was sentenced to 38 months imprisonment and fined $14.1 million for the crime.
It had been reported that Hibbert, an incoming passenger from the United States, was intercepted by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) at the CJIA in January.
A subsequent search of his three suitcases revealed 28 compressed parcels containing a quantity of cannabis, which weighed 15.7 kilograms.
