Four of the seven people accused of carrying out the deadly explosion at the Mobil Fuel Station on Regent and King Streets, Georgetown, were brought before the court once again on Wednesday, as the high-profile terrorism case moves forward.
Appearing virtually before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty were Daniel Alexander Ramirez Poedemo, the alleged mastermind of the attack, along with Johnny Boodram, Krystal LaCruz, and Alexander Bettancourt. The matter was called for report and subsequently postponed to December 3 for continuation.
No additional applications were made during the brief hearing. The accused remain charged under Guyana’s anti-terrorism laws in connection with the October 26 blast that claimed the life of six-year-old Sorya Bourne and left three others injured.
According to investigators, Poedemo, a Venezuelan national, is alleged to have led a coordinated group involving both Venezuelan and Guyanese nationals. Surveillance footage reportedly showed him placing an explosive device near the gas cylinder storage area of the Mobil station before fleeing the scene moments ahead of the explosion.
The remaining accused — Wayne Correia, Ramesh Pramdeo, and Jennifer Rodriguez — are expected to appear before Magistrate Alisha George on November 24, 2025.
