A postmortem examination has confirmed that seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial, a student of Cooper Primary School and resident of Fyrish Road, Corentyne, Berbice, was manually strangled to death.
The PME was conducted today by pathologist Dr Vivekanand Brijmohan who gave the cause of death as “manual strangulation”.
It had been reported that the child was strangled to death by her mother, who also attempted to take the life of her almost two-year-old son.
The incident occurred at around 11:30h on April 5, during which the woman, 26-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, also attempted to take her life.
The discovery was made by the children’s grandmother, who was visiting. Upon arrival at the home, she observed the situation and reported the matter to the police.
Investigations are ongoing.
