Police in Regional Division #10 are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Sunday November 16, 2025, about 18:45hrs on the Speightland Access Road, Mackenzie, Linden, which resulted in the death of 53-year-old Cecil Boston of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Initial investigations revealed that a motor car, driven by a 28-year-old Labourer of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of the Speightland Access Road at a normal rate of speed. At the same time, pedestrian Boston and his wife were walking one abreast along the eastern side of the roadway, heading in the same direction.
As the vehicle approached the pedestrians, the left front portion of the motor car collided with Boston, who was flung onto the windscreen before falling onto the roadway and sustaining injuries about the body.
Boston was picked up in an unconscious condition by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted a patient. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further medical attention.
At about 01:05hrs on Monday, November 17, 2025, Boston was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
A breathalyzer test was administered to the driver of the motor car and the results showed a reading of 0.62% BAC, which is above the prescribed limit. He was subsequently placed into custody, and the vehicle was lodged at the Mackenzie Police Station pending examination.
Investigations continue.
