$36.2B for GPF to upgrade police stations, invest in assets & training

Some $36.2 billion has been allocated to support the work of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) this year.

This is according to Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh who noted that the funds will be utilised towards the upgrade of police stations, investment in assets, and training programmes for ranks.

Specifically, $1.2 billion has been budgeted to advance the construction of the Brickdam Police Station and $139.8 million has been earmarked to continue works on the modern Training Academy Campus at Dora.

Additionally, $900 million has been allocated to expand the GPF’s transport capabilities while $5 billion has been set aside to continue the rollout of the Safe Country Initiative.

Meanwhile, some $250 million has been allocated to support the training of thousands of police officers.
