Police are investigating an incident which occurred on Wednesday October 22, 2025 at Surat Drive, Triumph, East Coast Demerara, which resulted in the death of 29-year-old Winston Semple, a contractor of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara and left 40-year-old Glendon Simpson of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara, hospitalized.
Preliminary information indicates that Semple, Simpson and other workmen were engaged in road construction activities in the area, when they were attacked by a swarm of bees. Both men sustained multiple stings during the attack.
They were later assisted by public-spirited persons, and taken to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where Semple was pronounced dead on arrival, while Simpson remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The body of Semple was later escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
The scene was processed by investigators and inquiries are continuing.
